Apple will release a new HomePod at its big event on Tuesday, a new rumor suggests. And this one could be relatively affordable.
It will be called the HomePod mini and cost $99. The rumor comes from Kang (via 9to5Mac), a leaker on Chinese social media platform Weibo, who Apple Track gives a 97.8 percent accuracy rating.
This would be a drastic price drop from the previous full-sized HomePod, which Apple released in 2018 for $350. The original HomePod was a 6.8-inch speaker using Apple’s A8 processor.
The mini version will measure only 3.3 inches, and will be powered by Apple’s S5 processor, according to Kang. This is the same processor that the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 5 currently use. Kang reports the Mini will be available for preorder on Nov. 6

At $99, the HomePod Mini would help Apple compete with Amazon’s Echo and Google's Nest Audio, which both sell for $100.
