If you were to glance regularly at Donald Trump's Twitter feed, you couldbe fooled into the thinking the guy's got too much time on his hands.
Pretty much every day marks a fresh tweetstorm in Trump-land, but Wednesday — the second day of the president's impeachment trial — he took things to a whole new level.
According to the data tracking service Factbase, Trump surpassed himself on Jan. 22, posting his highest number of tweets in a single day since taking office.

The final count was a solid 142 tweets, 124 of which were retweets (his all-time highest number of retweets in a day since becoming president).
He didn't quite beat his all-time record of tweets per day (161, which he set back in 2015), but he certainly came in a close second.

Oh, and if you were wondering about the hourly breakdown, apparently that was quite a way off record pace. He only managed a mere 41 tweets between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. ET, which is apparently nowhere near his best.

So, what was the president tweeting so relentlessly about?
Well first, a quick caveat — all those tweets weren't necessarilyfrom Trump himself. Some could very well have been posted by his social media team (and previous analysis has certainly suggested that more than one person has access to the @realDonaldTrump account).

Unsurprisingly, the topic of impeachment also featured heavily. As the day wound on, Trump retweeted various representatives and senators, including his dear friend Ted Cruz (you know, the guy he used to regularly refer to as "Lyin' Ted" on the campaign trail).
Maybe 2020 will be the year Trump passes 200 tweets in a single day? We reckon he's got it in him.
