Per adorable tradition, French President Emmanuel Macron has adopted a new pup, who will now hold the esteemed title as "First Dog."
According to BBC, Nemo is a labrador-griffon mix and almost two-years-old. He comes from the SPA animal refuge in Hermeray and cost the president around $300.
SEE ALSO: French President paid €26,000 for make-up, and the french are like 'non merci'Nemo is reportedly named after Captain Nemo, the commander of the fictional submarine Nautilus in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, as Macron is a big fan of the book. A fitting name for a dog with such an important position.
The presidential pup has already been pretty busy since being welcomed into Macron's family. He stood by Macron's side when he met with Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou.
BBCreports that the president and First Lady Brigitte picked Nemo up on Sunday. Nemo was previously abandoned in Tulle, in the southern Corrèze region of France, but now he has a happy home with the president's family.
And it doesn't look like he's leaving Macron's side anytime soon.
Good (first) dog.
