Save $100: As of Oct. 17, one of Dyson's newest releses, the Gen5detect Absolute cordless vacuum, is on sale for the first time. Get it for $849.99 at Dyson's website, Best Buy and Target — a savings of $100.
At first glance, one might understandably sniff at a measly $100 discount on a near-$1,000 vacuum — unless the vacuum in question is a new Dyson release. In that case, it would easily be crowned our favorite Dyson deal of the week.
In the aftermath of Prime Day competition sales, we're being treated to one of the Gen5 Dyson vacuums on sale for the first time since being released in June: Dyson's website, Best Buy and Target have all slashed $100 off the Dyson Gen5detect Absolute, bringing it to $849.99.
If you get 5% off with a Target RedCard, that makes your choice easy. Otherwise, note the color differences: The sale model at Best Buy and Target features a purple extender with gray hardware and accessories while the sale model at Dyson features a gold extender with Prussian blue hardware and accessories.
SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Black Friday 2023: The first early deals start in late OctoberThe Gen5detect Absolute is the more compact of the two Gen5 cordless vacuums that inaugurated a new era for Dyson products during a huge announcement over the summer. This generation contains Dyson's most powerful cordless vacuums yet — but while the big, bad $1,049.99 Gen5outsize (not on sale) wins in the battery life department, the small but mighty Gen5detect is more powerful: It pumps out 262 Air Watts of suction power compared to the Gen5detect Outsize's 250 AW or the next-best Dyson V15 Detect's 240 AW. You'll still get up to 70 minutes of cleaning on one charge.
The Gen5 vacuums have whole-machine HEPA filtration and ship with two cleaning heads: a Digital Motorbar with automatic hair detangling and the Fluffy Optic head with a laser for illuminating dust. If we learned anything about the laser from trying it for the first time with the V12 Detect Slim, it's that it's a game changer for anyone who walks barefoot at home.
